Virus Removal for Beginners
As an avid computer user at home and at work, you just like me have probably come across a virus on your PC at some point. You know when you have one too, you’ll have non-stop pop-ups all over your screen, or you’ll have that box pop up stating you have a Trojan horse or viruses on your PC, and that the only way that you supposedly can get rid of it, is to buy some software from the virus maker to get rid of it. But it’s just a scam to get your money, you’ll buy the software and it won’t do anything, and good luck trying to get your money back. I’m here to give you at least a few simple steps to take to remove these yourself.
You’ll need to go download SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. These are two free downloads (although they both have a paid version which is better) that can be downloaded from the net. Once downloaded, reboot your PC and start pressing F8, this will bring up the window to boot the PC into safe mode. Arrow up or down to choose safe mode with networking. Once you get to the desktop, install SuperAntiSpyware and click the update option, but do not check the option to let them analyize the scan findings. You can let it protect your home page or not, I choose not to use this option. When it’s all done, look for the scan pc button and click it, chose the fixed drives you want scanned and choose full scan. Let it run now, this can take up to two hours depending on the size of you drives. Once it’s finished and found infected items, click the remove button. When that’s finished a lot of times it’ll want you to re-boot the PC, if that’s the case do so, if not just re-boot the PC and repeat the steps to boot back into safe mode.
Now your going to install Malwarebytes Anti-malware. When it’s finished there will be an option to start the program and another option to update it. Choose both those options. This will update the program and start it up. When it is started find the scan PC button and choose the full scan. Let this run it’s full course just like the previous scan. Once it’s done, again you’ll click the button to see problems, and then just check everything on this screen to remove. When it’s done, a majority of the time, it’ll want to re-boot, just click yes. If it doesn’t ask to do this, just manually re-b00t the PC. This time do not hit F8, let the PC boot normally. When you get to the desktop, the viruses should be gone. If you see no sign of them, run a quick scan with either program and see if it finds anything, if it doesn’t your PC is now fine. If it does try to remove what it finds again, and re-boot and then go to the next paragraph.
If your viruses are still there, or you found some in a quick scan again, now it’s pretty much time to take your computer to your local computer repair and virus removal professional. The reason is that your viruses are embedded somewhere in the PC, most likely the Registry, and only way to successfully remove it now is to let a professional do it so you don’t brick your PC.
